The Tailgate Assist consists simply of a torque rod hidden
between the tailgate inner and outer panel, which twists as
the gate is opened to counterbalance the weight of the lid,
reducing the effort to close the gate by half.
It utilizes the existing hinge pivots with
minimal modification to allow, in the case of the Ford F150,
for the tailgate to be removed without removing the torque rod
or requiring tools!
